Do You Need a VPS? Signs It Is Time to Upgrade
DomainHostly Team · 1 November 2026
Moving to a VPS sounds like a natural upgrade, but it brings more responsibility along with more power.
It may be time if your site often hits resource limits, slows at busy hours even after optimisation, or needs custom software.
A shared plan does not usually allow what a VPS does, such as installing your own services or adjusting the server.
Remember the extra work. Updates, security and backups may become your job unless you choose a managed plan.
Check your real usage first. If you do not have someone to manage a server, a better shared plan or managed hosting may suit you more.
