A Website Backup Plan for Small Businesses
DomainHostly Team · 1 November 2026
Sites break through bad updates, hacking and human error. A good backup turns a disaster into a short delay.
Back up both parts of the site: the files and the database. A copy of the files alone will not save your orders or posts.
How often depends on how quickly the site changes. A store may need daily backups, while a simple site may be fine with weekly ones.
Keep at least one copy away from your hosting account. If the account is compromised, a backup in the same place may be lost as well.
Test a restore at least once. Ask your hosting company how long it keeps backups and who performs the restore.
